Big thanks to Daniel at www.exoticnoods.com for sending this! This looks rather plain but I’m going to tell you right now I am seriously excited about it. Nan Jie Cun is also known as Nan Jie village. So what? So this –
Nanjie (Chinese: 南街村; pinyin: Nánjiē Cūn) is a village under the administration of the town of Chengguan [zh], Linying County, Henan.[1][2] It is widely reported as being the last Maoist village in China, and has attracted considerable global attention due to its unique political and economic system.[3][4][5][6] The village has an area of 1.78 square kilometres (0.69 sq mi),[7] and has about 3,400 permanent residents as of 2011.[5]
If you live in Nan Jie, you get a card that shows citizenship and you just go to the store and get what you need. First thing in the morning, people unite to sing songs. It’s very fascinating – here’s a video about the place. It’s very different; sounds like it works for the most part too. Here’s another video about it. I’ve reviewed one other variety that comes from this little city which I wasn’t too fond of, but the place has been fascinating to me. Let’s try this one!
