Thought I would do a news update since it’s been quite a while. So to start with, I send out stickers to those who are kind enough to send me donations of noodles that I can’t get here. Well, one of these folks, Greg B. from Florida, has sent me a photo of where he stuck one of them.
Check it out here!
Here‘s the article.
9/28/2024 – Update – Back on September 9th, 2011, I published this post – it was an early time in my reviewing – many things have changed since then; I used to use a phone to take pictures of products – I think it was a Blackberry Curve at the time. As I’m only a handful of reviews to #5000, it’s really weird to look at this compared to how I present reviews now. Anyways, there’s a video at the bottom I made at the time.
Ramen Rater reader Greg B. from Orlando, FL offered to send me some of his favorite noodles that he hadn’t seen me review before. I was really stoked to see this box!
The noodles have been identified aptly by a Ramen Rater reader! Check out the review tomorrow to find out who they are!
So this guy from Germany is all about the ramen nachos apparently and wants to argue about it and compete with it. Kind of strange…
So quite the upgrade – a big clothes hamper – wicker! Stylish and exotic. Three little Japanese noodle shop signs from a store called Daiso at a buck fifty each and a pillow I got off of eBay a long time ago to adorn the holy shrine to the cheap, easy meal that I enjoy.

A big thank you goes out to Michael M. from Staten Island, NY who sent a nice box of noodles he found down the kosher aisle at his local grocery store. He’s been a fan of the site for a while now and really saved my ass when he noticed that the domain www.ramenrater.com wasn’t doing anything and the site was dead! Thanks!!!
Thought this was pretty cool – check out the article on Social Slave about how Ramen Rater inspired a brunch! Link

So this morning, I had an interview on KWLE ‘The Whale’ from Anacortes, Washington! It was a lot of fun and I’d like to thank Glen and everyone at KWLE for doing the interview! Here’s a video of the studio cam and the interview!
Look at that – wow! I haven’t ever seen most of these for sale in the stores I have been to and I have been to quite a few as you can well imagine. My sister has brought these to the home plate and so everyone should say thanks to her!
So when I’m not eating instant noodles, I eat other things. Here’s one of them. A can of Progresso Light Chicken Noodles soup with some dehydrated onion and a spoonful of Mae Ploy yellow curry and a few dozen grains of rice in there. Pretty awesome stuff.
Yep! The Ramen Rater Top Ten List is here! Check it out by clicking here!

So yeah look at that insane assortment of noodles – it’s really quite insane. My lovely Kit was so kind as to give me the gift of oriental flava today! First we went to Sun Ya in Seattle – a Chinese restaurant that has dim sum for lunch. Then to Uwajimaya where I got a ton of noodles! The we checked out a place called Viet Wah – that was awesome and yes, more noodles. Then to Seafood City and yes…. MORE NOODLES! Finally after coming back and relaxing for a bit, we decided on homemade Korean BBQ for dinner. Got the stuff at 99 Ranch Market and yup – got another noodle cup! In all, there’s 65 unique varieties here that will be reviewed on Ramen Rater! So Enjoy!
The Ramen Rater would like to send its sympathies to all affected by the catastrophic 8.9 magnitude earthquake that hit Japan. So much of what goes on on The Ramen Rater is related to Japan and we hope that Japan bounces back swiftly and smoothly.
Yesterday we went to HT Oaktree market. Got a ton of new noodles to review! Gaze upon the massiveness!

So today I reviewed the 300th unique ramen / instant noodle pack of this weird and fun hobby of mine. There’s been a lot of different things I’ve found enjoyable about this hobby: learning about different cultures, talking with people from around the world, and, most importantly, getting to eat some cheap and sometimes extremely good food.
