Cold As Ice: Frozen Ramen – Your Holiday Gift

Cold As Ice: Frozen Ramen - Your Holiday Gift

Today is December 25th, 2022. I thought the perfect gift to all of you nice people that look at my reviews and experiments would be to add a lot of stuff to a plastic bowl and put it outside and let it freeze. So, that’s what I did. It is your holiday gift! For free! You are very welcome! Hope everyone seeing this is having a great holiday season and that it ends soon and that 2023 is lacking a lot of insanity that the previous year contained. ...see full post

#4287: Annie Chun’s Korean Style Spicy Ramen Soup Bowl – United States

#4287: Annie Chun's Korean Style Spicy Ramen Soup Bowl - United States

It’s been a rough go for brands from the US I’ve not reviewed a ton of before. It really surprises me how many zero star scores I’ve given lately. I have a feeling (and hope) this one’s different. See where it says CJ Foods next to the Annie Chun’s logo? That’s a Korean company. If they’re making this line, I would think that they could make a great spicy Korean ramen. Then again I see corn is an ingredient which is very odd. Ah well – come on let’s give it a go! ...see full post

#4283: Dragonfly Premium Hot & Sour Instant Vermicelli – United States

#4283: Dragonfly Premium Hot & Sour Instant Vermicelli - United States

This one’s an interesting specimen . You might be a hardcore instant noodle fan and notice the font of ‘premium’ and the color scheme. Definitely might remind you of something completely different. This one’s definitely packaged for US sale. I’ve had quite a few varieties from Dragonfly and found them generally to be quite good. Let’s check it out! ...see full post

#4216: Ocean’s Halo Organic Vegan Thai Coconut Big Bowl Of Noodles – United States

#4216: Ocean's Halo Organic Vegan Thai Coconut Big Bowl Of Noodles - United States

My wife went to Whole Foods the other day (not a place we usually frequent, however she’s trying out the gluten free thing) and she came across three of these Ocean’s Halo varieties. The first I’m trying if this Thai coconut. Sounds pretty good in theory at least. I guess we should take a look! ...see full post

#4176: Simply Food Chicken Vermicelli With Bamboo Shoot – Vietnam

#4176: Simply Food Chicken Vermicelli With Bamboo Shoot - Vietnam

You might not know, but there have been huge lapses in my reviews lately. I usually don’t review every day, however I do a few reviews on days when I do. Well, it’s Saturday night and I’m setting up reviews right now to do tomorrow. I’ll have done three reviews a day since last Monday. It feels good – especially since I’ve been able to get out and do my walking and everrything. Anyways, this sounds like an interesting variety, so here we go. ...see full post

#4153: Nissin Cup Noodles Stir Fry Rice With Noodles Japanese Teriyaki Chicken Flavor – United States

#4153: Nissin Cup Noodles Rice With Noodles Japanese Teriyaki Chicken Flavor - United States

These I’ve been going through slowly – I think this one came by way of James from Lakeside CA, but it may have come from Nissin Foods USA – either way, thank you! Last time I messed with a Stir Fry cup I took 4 of the Korean BBQ flavor ones, pulverized them into powder, cooked them in the microwave, and added them to a pie crust to make a savory Christmas pie. Yeah I know – that’s weird. Well, let’s try this one without trying to make a dessert out of it, as fun as that might be… ...see full post

#4140: Kang Shi Fu Braised Artificial Beef Flavor – China

#4140: Kang Shi Fu Braised Artificial Beef Flavor - China

I thought I would do three reviews in a row from China. Why? Well, it’s January 3rd here and I just got done with the arduous Christmas and New Year’s happenings and I want to show off my new musical instrument. You can watch the video below and on the next two reviews. Be kind – never played a bowed instrument before in my life and never a traditional Chinese instrument. ...see full post

#4137: Phonomenal Bowl – United States

#4137: Phonomenal Bowl - United States

Here’s one that came by way as a Christmas gift from my friend and esteemed author Matthew Bellah of Port Townsend, Wa. My great thanks and appreciation to you, sir. This appears to be a vegetarian friendly bowl that is made in Vietnam and designed by a fellow here in the Pacific Northwest. Sounds interesting – I’ve seen these locally before, but never tried them. Let’s check it out! ...see full post

#3982: Mamee Monster x Daebak Ghost Pepper Daging Cendawan Pedas – Malaysia

#3982: Mamee Monster x Daebak Ghost Pepper Daging Cendawan Pedas - Malaysia

So far, I’ve been pretty happy about Mamee’s Ghost Pepper range. Well, This one happens to be spicy mushroom flavor. I’m not incredibly fond of mushrooms; I’m alright with the texture, but the flavor generally kind of puts me off. That being said, I have experienced mushroom varieties I’ve likes, so hoping this is one of those. Let’s give this one a try – there will be a mukbang video below as well… ...see full post

#3854: Wai Wai Instant Noodles Vegetable Flavored – Serbia

#3854: Wai Wai Instant Noodles Vegetable Flavored - Serbia

What a weird day it’s been – let alone week. So a friend had a Facebook group that went from 200 members  up to 39,000 in 5 months. He didn’t have the time to administer the group and asked if I wanted it. Nobody’s ever handed me 39,000 people to govern before. So I said yes. The group keeps growing, and today it hit 50,000 members! That’s a decent sized city! He offered Thursday and this is Monday. I wonder if it will keep growing… I guess we’ll see! If you want to join, it’s here. ...see full post

#3842: Panda Signature Ramen Noodle Soup Soy Sauce Flavor – United States

#3842: Panda Signature Ramen Noodle Soup Soy Sauce Flavor - United States

First off, today I’m doing two reviews – 3842 and 3843. I ran a GoFundMe in February 2021 to help with an emergency situation and for some upgrades around here. Well, one of the upgrades is being used for the first time today! I got a print/scan/copy etc printer. This thing has an 11×17 scanner on it. The old scanner had condesation under the glass and that was affecting quality. This one’s extra nice since I can scan a wide label or package in a single pass without having to do two scans and patch them together! Thank you to all who donated and support the site and what I do! ...see full post

#3835: Acecook Mochichi Shio Yakisoba – Japan

#3732: Acecook Mochichi Shio Yakisoba - Japan

Here’s a fancy one from Japan found in a Zenpop box – check out zenpop.jp and use the coupon code RAMENRATER for a discount! The last time I tried one of these mochichi varieties I remember it mentioned ‘pinching one’s cheek’ to tell if they’re not really in a fancy ramen restaurant in Tokyo. It was pretty good, but no pinching occured. Let’s give it a try. ...see full post

#3788: Newgate Express Instant Noodles Prawn Flavour – Ireland

#3788: Newgate Express Instant Noodles Prawn Flavour - Ireland

Big thanks go out to Cian for sending these! The video for this one posted on New Year’s Eve. It’s a pretty good one – even though we won’t be in a large group of people or anything, saying goodbye and good riddance to 2020 I think will be on everyone’s minds. Hopefully when this posts on www.theramenrater.com, it’s going better… Hopefully… Let’s see how these noodles are! ...see full post

#3765: Newgate Express Instant Noodles Beef Flavour – Ireland

#3765: Newgate Express Instant Noodles Beef Flavour - Ireland

Thanks to Cian (pronounced kee-yan – like Ian with a K) from Ireland! Thanks so much! These are very interesting in that the sachet kind of gives away the original manufacturer. The motif on the sachet is the same as those found at Real Canadian Superstore up in BC – and these come from a grocery store chain in Ireland, so either they’re related or just using the same private label company. The ones in Canada were labeled Rooster brand. They were good, so I’m hoping these will be as well. Let’s find out! ...see full post
