Over 5,000 Instant Ramen Noodle Reviews Since 2002

I only thought they had an original Indomie Mi Goreng cup but it turned out there’s a barbeque chicken one too. Quite a surprise – especially since I found it at a Middle Eastern market. Let’s give it a go!

What a weird day it’s been – let alone week. So a friend had a Facebook group that went from 200 members up to 39,000 in 5 months. He didn’t have the time to administer the group and asked if I wanted it. Nobody’s ever handed me 39,000 people to govern before. So I said yes. The group keeps growing, and today it hit 50,000 members! That’s a decent sized city! He offered Thursday and this is Monday. I wonder if it will keep growing… I guess we’ll see! If you want to join, it’s here.

First off, today I’m doing two reviews – 3842 and 3843. I ran a GoFundMe in February 2021 to help with an emergency situation and for some upgrades around here. Well, one of the upgrades is being used for the first time today! I got a print/scan/copy etc printer. This thing has an 11×17 scanner on it. The old scanner had condesation under the glass and that was affecting quality. This one’s extra nice since I can scan a wide label or package in a single pass without having to do two scans and patch them together! Thank you to all who donated and support the site and what I do!

Here’s a fancy one from Japan found in a Zenpop box – check out zenpop.jp and use the coupon code RAMENRATER for a discount! The last time I tried one of these mochichi varieties I remember it mentioned ‘pinching one’s cheek’ to tell if they’re not really in a fancy ramen restaurant in Tokyo. It was pretty good, but no pinching occured. Let’s give it a try.

A big thank you yet again to Daniel from Montana for shooting these over! I found that there’s a HALAL stamp on the back of these mentioning Malaysia, so I can only surmise that’s where these were made. Packaging is definitely for the US market. Let’s check it out!

Thanks to Cian from Ireland, I now understand what quality hails from Irish supermarket chains. I really haven’t enjoyed any of these up until now and not a lot of hopes for this one. But then again, how can a chicken instant noodle be all that bad, right? Let’s find out.

Here we go with another variety made in Serbia! Wow – pretty cool. Vegetable though. Hmm I wonder what this one will taste like – let’s find out!

Big thanks go out to Cian for sending these! The video for this one posted on New Year’s Eve. It’s a pretty good one – even though we won’t be in a large group of people or anything, saying goodbye and good riddance to 2020 I think will be on everyone’s minds. Hopefully when this posts on www.theramenrater.com, it’s going better… Hopefully… Let’s see how these noodles are!

The four fingered hand with a face brings you what you never knew you needed – a microwavable cup of mac and cheese with pizza flavor.

Here’s one that came in a box from Exotic Noods – use coupon code THERAMENRATER for a discount!

Can’t remember exactly where I picked this one up, but it’s Filipino. What’s more is that it says it’s a product of the USA. Don’t think I’ve heard of this Nora Kitchen brand before – I suspect maybe it’s the same as Pamana but I could be wrong. Anyways, sotanghon time – let’s check it out!

Thanks to Cian (pronounced kee-yan – like Ian with a K) from Ireland! Thanks so much! These are very interesting in that the sachet kind of gives away the original manufacturer. The motif on the sachet is the same as those found at Real Canadian Superstore up in BC – and these come from a grocery store chain in Ireland, so either they’re related or just using the same private label company. The ones in Canada were labeled Rooster brand. They were good, so I’m hoping these will be as well. Let’s find out!

Another expansion of the Soon range. Very curious how this one will be – and I even have some kimchi on hand. I’ve been replacing snacks with kimchi – been enjoyable to say the least! Let’s check this one out.

Here’s one sent by reader Cian from Dublin – thanks! This is the first Irish instant noodle I’ll be reviewing and although Cian told me these aren’t exactly great, I’m stoked since to me, they’re new. Let’s try the first curry noodles I’ve ever seen in sky blue packaging. Let’s do it.

This one came out of a Zenpop subscription box. Zenpop has great boxes featuring different themes every month with 7 different instant ramen varieties from Japan. Use the coupon code RAMENRATER for a discount!

Here’s another one that arrived in a box from Exotic Noods. Use coupon code THERAMENRATER for a discount!

Thanks again go out to The Fat Hipster on YouTube for sending these along. This one feature a rapper that I’ve never heard of. Boosie is on the lid so you’ll see him below. Anyways, I’m hoping this is really a spicy one. Let’s find out!

Okay, I know what rice vermicelli is, but I’m unsure about Xiao Qiao. Let’s ask Wikipedia –

Here’s another one from James of Lakeside, California – thanks again! Sounds interesting – let’s give it a go!

Ah ha! I knew I had more of these bowls! I walk by this every time I go to 99 Ranch Market but I don’t buy more because I swore I already bought all of them. Well, here’s another one. Bowl is a little dented (okay, a lot dented) but it’s fine. Let’s give it a try!

Another one from James of Lakeside, CA – thanks again! So, what have we here? Well, this is a special ramen – clam flavor (shijimi) – specially about sumo (chikara). Clam noodle soup for wrestlers. Sounds interesting – let’s check it out!

I reviewed the pack version awhile back and been sitting on this bowl version. Actually I saw the cup version at Boo Han Market in Edmonds, Washington a few minutes ago right before we got our Christmas tree at Country Farms. Anyways, This one sounds like a good idea today. Let’s give it a try.

Here’s one that was in a box from Zenpop. Their monthly boxes feature a slew of varieties from Japan – use coupon code RAMENRATER for a discount!

Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, I’m going to be reviewing three varieties brought to me from Israel by my brother Moshe. I didn’t know I had a brother until I took an Ancestry DNA kit my wife got for me (I was kind of hoping I might be 1% Asian descent, but that was most certainly not the case). Well, I got to see him for the second time in person yesterday, and this visit, our mother came and visited with him as well – something we never had expected. He was adopted in 1955 and my sister and I didn’t know anything about it – so this is a big deal for us!

Here’s one that we found at my personal Canadian Disneyland, Smart’n’Save at the Lansdowne Centre Mall up in Richmond, BC. Man, I love that little store! Anyways, yeah this one looks pretty neat – shoyu’s on the menu today! Let’s hit it!

This one was sent in by a reader named Steven – thanks! So I’ll start off with saying I’m really not a big fan of mushrooms. I’m curious though because this one does contain a retort pouch – but my hopes aren’t up. That’s okay though because I’ve been pleasantly surprised in the past. Let’s give it a go!

These Cremoso varieties have been a blast! This one’s meat with chili – let’s give it a try!

Here’s a neat one I’m excited about that came in an Umai Crate subscription box! It’s a monthly box with all sorts of neat ramen varieties and more! Use the coupon code THERAMENRATER for a discount if you want to pick one up or subscribe.

I figured I needed something scary for this pairing of Halloween varieties and so here’s something scary. I have no clue how truly spicy this one might be. I’m hoping it’s not going to kill my gut. This will have not only the cooking video at the bottom but the mukbang where I scarf the whole thing down if I can. Well, let’s see if I can handle it.

So I’m stoked – Chef Ron shot over a big box of samples! Things have changed though – these days the drink is missing, as are the vegetables. He promises that this is still an amazing product and I will still love it. Let’s find out!

I’ve reviewed Mama Pat’s products in the past, however there have been some changesto the packs (no more drink sachet and no vegetable sachet either) and now there are cups (which I’m reviewing for the first time). I think these are neat ranges – very unique varieties Chef Ron is bringing to market. Let’s check out this cup version!

First off a big thanks to Chris G. for picking these up and sending them after his whirlwind trip around Europe! This one’s from Portugal which is pretty neat. What flavor is it? Caril translates to curry. Let’s give it a try!

This came by way of Robert over at www.dadbert.com – thanks! I’ve never seen hide nor hare of this variety ever before – anywhere. Test market in Kentucky? Perhaps. It looks like these are a meat version of the Very Veggie really; lots of meat instead of vegetables. My thought – screw it – I mean put lots of meat AND vegetables in there. In fact, screw that – do a retort pooch with meat and vegetables – now you’re talking! Nissin – you’re here in the United States already – use real meat! Retort pouches are the salvation – they shall bring a whole new age to the domestic instant noodle industry in America! At least that’s my vision. Let’s check it out!

I’m starting to feel like with the sheer amount of products I’m finding lately that a list for vegetarian people might not be too far off. But we’ll see. A lot of companies (including MyKuali as you can see here) are getting on board with catering to the Vegetarian folks. Let’s see what the differences are going to be with this one.

Made for Loblaw’s Canada, these Rooster varieties have been surprisingly good. In fact, despite having a very plain and generic look to them, they’ve all been really quite good. Will this bowl continue on in this way? Let’s find out!

I reviewed this one on February 10th, 2019. This has been a crazy week – we’ve got layers of snow here and haven’t been able to even move the car since Friday. It’s Tuesday and probably we won’t be going anywhere today, either.

Today, we have one that was part of Japan Crate’s Umai Crate. So Japan Crate is a subscription service which has all sorts of different options for you. pretty neat stuff from Japan! There’s a coupon code for you too – just use THERAMENRATER to get a special discount at check out.

Here’s one of the last ones sent by a Taiwanese university student who has probably graduated by now – thanks again and good luck! This is a really big box – let’s check it out!

Found this one up in Canada at Foodyworld and it looks really neat! The kids are really interested in this one but I’m sure it’s definitely off the charts spicy for them. I’m always curious when I see a cartoon or comic character on a product. Definitely looks interesting, that’s for sure! Let’s crack it open!

Today we have a Zenpop.JP variety – so what’s Zenpop? They’re a subscription service for all things Japanese! Definitely, check them out. By the way, use coupon code RAMENRATER to get $2 off! Here’s what they had to say about this one – ‘Spicy but tasty tonkotsu shoyu soup with garlic and red pepper. Add pork kimuchi flavored oil to enjoy delicious smell of kimchi. Ingredients are well seasoned pork, two kinds of kimchi seasoned with special sauce, green onion, and red pepper.’
