#3615: Baixiang Artificial Crawfish Flavored Stir Fried Noodle – China

#3615: Baixiang Artificial Crawfish Flavored Stir Fried Noodle - China

I found this at a large Asian grocery in Bellevue, Washington recently. It was the last one – I’m guessing part of a special promo for Lunar New Year. My guess is that this is going to be in the vein of the hot spicy stir fried noodles of South Korea, but in a Chinese way? I don’t know for sure, but it sounds interesting. Let’s give it a try! ...see full post

Meet The Manufacturer: #3608: Vi Huong Black Pepper Crab Flavor Instant Noodles – Vietnam

Meet The Manufacturer: #3608: Vi Huong Black Pepper Crab Flavor Instant Noodles - Vietnam

Those crab claws there look really nice. Man, that sounds so good right now! I remember when in Penang, Malaysia, sitting around a table which was on a little dock – one of many that were roped together and you picked the seafood you wanted and they prepared it. It was amazing – and we got crab. The meat was so good! We also had duck and sea cucumber – that’s an interesting thing. They work well together, but sea cucumber by itself wasn’t my favorite thing. Anyways, I digress – black pepper crab it is! ...see full post

Meet The Manufacturer: #3607: Vi Huong Instant Noodles Artificial Pork Flavor – Vietnam

Meet The Manufacturer: #3607: Vi Huong Instant Noodles Artificial Pork Flavor - Vietnam

As I ready this, the first post of the week, I’m a little worried. You see, I don’t have any ground pork. I hope they have some at the store tomorrow morning. I’m kind of unsure what kind of garnish to do on this one other than that. Hmmm… I don’t think eggs really are suitable… I’ll have to figure this one out! Let’s begin. ...see full post

Meet The Manufacturer: #3606: Thien Huong Food Lemon Chicken Flavour Instant Noodles – Vietnam

Meet The Manufacturer: #3606: Thien Huong Food Lemon Chicken Flavour Instant Noodles - Vietnam

Lemon chicken sounds good! This isn’t one I’ve seen a lot of. Lemon usually isn’t a pairing with instant noodle flavor profiles. Uniqueness! Hooray! Sure, there’s lemongrass, but this is different. Unique varieties pique my interest – let’s delve into this one. ...see full post

Meet The Manufacturer: #3605: Vi Huong Spicy Shrimp Flavour Instant Noodles – Vietnam

Meet The Manufacturer: #3604: Vi Huong Spicy Shrimp Flavour Instant Noodles - Vietnam

I really like this packaging – paper with a protective inner liner. It’s definitely unique and I must say I wish more companies would do things this way. It’s so much easier for me to take pictures of the packaging – much less glare! Let’s give the contents a try! ...see full post

#3600: Mamee Shinsegae Habanero Kimchi Jjigae Instant Noodles Soup – Malaysia

Mamee Shinsegae Habanero Kimchi Jjigae Instant Noodles Soup - Malaysia

I thought to myself last night that I should get going on these spicy reviews. Felix at Mamee was so nice to send over a box – twice since there was a kerfuffle with customs the first time. So I resigned myself that today I’d probably be doing a mukbang. But… ...see full post

#3593: Doll Fried Noodle Chili Sauce Flavour – Hong Kong

#3593: Doll Fried Noodle Chili Sauce Flavour - Hong Kong

Two things about this one. First, this was got on our last trip to Canada which seems like forever ago. We used to visit the wonder of the north about once a month but now the borders are shut tight. Plus, this was one of the very few varieties I got up there that the border agents didn’t confiscate. They confiscated varieties that are now even sold here so that was kind of silly but oh well. ...see full post

#3586: Ottogi Kongguksu Ramen – South Korea

#3586: Ottogi Kongguksu Ramen - South Korea

Here’s something I’d not seen before – I know, that’s kind of a redundant statement; I try to review something new every day, so… But this is very different. Often, cold noodle varieties from South Korea pop up, but not usually ones that come with a cold broth – they’re usually broth-free. I think that may have been the longest sentence I’ve ever typed on this blog, so apologies for that. ...see full post

#3584: KORMOSA Kiss My Food Vegetable Noodles – Taiwan

#3584: KORMOSA Kiss My Food Vegetable Noodles - Taiwan

Here’s one Daniel from Exotic Noods brought me back from Taiwan – thanks! This product is produced by Paldo Vina, a Vietnamese branch of Paldo Food of South Korea. It is for sale in Taiwan (formerly called Formosa), and has a South Korean parent company, so KORMOSA is a kind of play on the fusion of companies and distribution. Let’s check it out! ...see full post

Meet The Manufacturer: #3573: Sau Tao QQ Vermicelli Pork & Pickled Mustard Flavour – Hong Kong

Meet The Manufacturer: #3573: Sau Tao QQ Vermicelli Pork & Pickled Mustard Flavour - Hong Kong

QQ is an interesting term when it comes to noodles. Michelin defines it as “QQ is the bounciness associated with fresh handmade fishballs, glutinous rice balls, and certain types of noodles. The term originated from Taiwan, where Q sounds similar to the local word for “chewy”, but it’s evolved to mean a little more than that.” ...see full post

#3563: Sokensha Shio Ramen – Japan

#3563: Sokensha Shio Ramen - Japan

Here’s yet another one sent by James from Lakeside, California – thanks! Man, I’m beat – woke up at 12:30am. I have one night every once in a while that I end up starting my day exceedingly early. I know I’ll sleep really well tonight. It’s funny too as I’ll be hanging out with the kids in the morning and nod off. They run up to me and yell ‘Papa! Wake up! Wake up!’ I think that’s going to be going on this morning… Luckily, my kids are cute and awesome… Today my plan is to go get a ton of steps in. Starting at 3:30am. Let’s get this done. ...see full post

#3562: Snapdragon Miso Rice Ramen - United States

First things first – thanks to James of Lakeside, CA for sending this one! Alright, so no, this is not produced in the United States, but it’s definitely produced for the United States. It sounds interesting, honestly – miso rice noodles. I don’t know that I’ve seen miso rice noodles before however I could be wrong. Let’s see what we have. ...see full post

#3552: Daisho Rich Soy Sauce Tonkotsu - Japan

Here’s one that came in the mail a couple of days ago. This is from Daniel over at www.exoticnoods.com – they’re a subscription box company (use coupon code RAMENRATER15 for a nice discount) – and he had some samples of this one he wanted to get my opinion of. I figure let’s give it a try – and so here we are. Thanks! Let’s crack ’em open! ...see full post

#3547: Nissin Miojo Nissin Lamen Sabor Galinha Caipira – Brazil

#3470: Nissin Miojo Nissin Lamen Sabor Galinha Caipira - Brazil

This one came from Mr. Saturn – thanks again! I know galinha is a kind of young hen – a little oilier than standard chicken, but not exactly up on the whole caipira. I’m getting ‘bush cutter’ which seems a little odd. Maybe one of you will know. Not only that, this is review #3470 and I think 3470 was a standard of terminal emulation from back in the finer days of computer stuff. Let’s give it a try! ...see full post
