October 6th is National Noodle Day! I knew it existed, but every year I find out when it’s too late to do a special post or something to commemorate the day. This year, Nissin Foods USA overnighted me a box especially for National Noodle Day – and it arrived the day before! So, I’ve spent the day before National Noodle Day shooting video, doing special research, and sitting in the bathroom. Okay so if you’re me, you probably don’t know what’s going on here. I’ll admit it – I’m 47 and not hip to current things as I suppose I should be. So here goes – there’s a K-POP band called BTS. Them, I’ve heard of, although I don’t know if I’ve heard their music. Then there’s LINE, which I think is a social media or messagiong platform? Then there’s BT21 which from what I’m getting are emoji/sticker characters from LINE inspired by BTS. Please correct me if I’m wrong and my apologies – I’m acronym challenged. Suprama Sends Unique Corn Vermicelli From Indonesia!

I’ve reviewed many varieties in noodles in my tenure as The Ramen Rater – some great, some not so great. A great one is from Suprama’s Best Wok range – they’ve got a knockout mi goreng – made my annual top ten for 2022. Today, they’ve got some neat noodle varieties they’ve send – and corn vermicelli are among them. Never heard of such a thing and tried it – great stuff! Limited Cup Noodles Fish Head Curry From Nissin Singapore!

Ready to see something extra special? This is a limited-time variety from Nissin Singapore which debuted on April 4th, 2022 and if you want to get some, you’d better hurry! They’re only available in Singapore and sound really great – I’ll be trying them very soon. I’ve had fish head curry once before in Penang, Malaysia on the same day we arrived there way back in 2014. It was pretty crazy – our flight left Seattle at midnight, then 13 hours to Taiwan, a few to Singapore, then a short hop to Penang. Got there in the afternoon, and much later got to go out for dinner. Let me tell you – we were seeing things at that time – all the adrenaline rush of going somewhere fantastic and new and serious sleep deprivation! Well, let me say it was really tasty – definitely want to return and really want to visit Singapore to sample it there as well! I’ve got the next best thing – some Cup Noodles Fish Head Curry!
