So we went to the grocery store and got a bunch of Cup Noodles – at only 25 cents a piece why not, and they haven’t been reviewed yet! So here’s shrimp.
So let’s see if this is as good if not better than yesterday’s udon.
Again I am flummoxed; how do they tell the packets apart? This one is exactly the same as the beef packet.
So something new – found this at a standard regular run of the mill grocery store. There were three varieties, so we got one of each, especially at 10/$10.
Well, this thing is big enough – hopefully it’s good stuff!
So the dragon pulls the cart. I would hate to be riding in that thing! The warnings of pain in store were interesting…
Chow noodle! Wow this stuff looks interesting. I liked the cheese version… Let’s see how this one tastes eh?

Been wanting to try this for awhile and thought hey – a sale on it for 69 cents? I’m on it. So here we go.

Sweet & sour chicken? Is it possible that it could taste like sweet & sour chicken? We shall see…

So chicken flavor this time. Thought maybe I’d spruce it up with some leftover turkey!
So found the sixth of seven varieties of Bowl Noodle! Kit you rock!!! She saw it at Uwajimaya in Bellevue and boom – here we go!!!
So the local grocery store had four different varieties of this stuff so I thought I might as well run through them. So roast chicken huh? Alrighty…
It’s big, it’s burly, it’s insanity. I really think the USA is the only country that this is marketed to. Super size me ramen! 2960mg of sodium and 560 calories. But hey, that 14g of protein will help on the jog you take after eating this!
So now that I’m out of the Nong Shim bowl noodles, here’s something new. This is going to be good – I haven’t had any complaints that I can think of about Sapporo Ichiban’s products.
So here’s the last Bowl Noodle I have on hand, Spicy Shrimp Flavor. I’m hunting for the Seafood and the Lobster flavors currently. I think that’s all of them…
So going to have another one of these today. This looks like the most basic one.
Again, only one packet.
So here’s the third of these Bowl Noodles I’ve tried, Cabbage Kimchi. Some not so keen on Kimchi might not know that its not only made of cabbage but other vegetables too, such as radish. Anyways, Let’s get started.
Beef & Ginger? Sounds really good! Surprising that I haven’t stumbled upon more packs of instant noodles that have ginger as a main ingredient – it’s so tasty and all…
So this is the 200th instant noodle I’ve reviewed! So bright eyed and vaguely bushy tailed at 6:30am, here we go! I’d like to first thank Kit for picking #199 and #200 for my reviews and also for cruising us around and going to all of these Asian groceries around here. So continuing the cavalcade of cup soups, here we have some Maruchan Instant Lunch. Not a very standard rameny flavor but we’ll see how it tastes.
So this is what you’ll find at your local grocery store in the United States. I picked this one up at a dollar store. Looked interesting so thought I’d give it a go. I’m always looking for the exotic and felt I was kind of missing the more domestic and such. How can I be a true Ramen Rater without trying the stuff from across the ocean as well as in my backyard?
Why not right? Some of the stuff that most folks are more used to – big bowls of noodles with easy to understand flavors like chicken and not some kind of melange of paste and rice noodles. Yeah why not.
So I thought why not do a head to head – same company, should be same noodles right? First off the left is the Demae Ramen, more of the kind that you would find in Japan or Hong Kong and to the right is the United States version. The Demae is a bigger brick of noodles and says it is one serving while the Top Ramen is smaller yet says it is two servings.
So for my #100 review, I thought since being jabbed at recently about not having ramen from a restaurant, I’d better try it out. Long story short, I found this bowl rather lackluster. Not very spicy. The noodles were very nice, but the egg wasn’t much. I was left wanting… Something more… I had to give it 2.0 of 5.0 stars
So today here’s review #98 – the weird GreeNoodle… These noodles contain some kind of weird ingredient called moroheiya. “Moroheiya is a super vegetable that is more nutritious than spinach, carrots, or borccoli in most aspects” is written on the back and cite as a quote by the ‘Japanese Ministry.’ although which Ministry that would be is unclear to me.
So yeah – really. I haven’t reviewed the standard chicken flavor Maruchan seen on every store shelf from here to hell and back. So it’s time. Chicken time!
Click image to enlarge. Slightly spicy. The mushrooms don’t actually have a lot of flavor. The mushrooms were a bit mushy. There’s some yellow stuff that I don’t know what it is… The little yellow bits taste like egg… The noodles are good but they’re hard to eat – they don’t want to stay on a fork and are slimy. I wouldn’t say this stuff is anything special. 2.3 out of 5 stars. Get it here.
So this looks to be one of the more exotic flavors out there as far as the more ‘domesticated’ ramens go. What I find curious is whether this is marketed towards the Hispanic or the Filipino populations. The combination of chili and lime are popular in both cultures and products marketed with a pepper and a green lime are very common.
Some might consider this to be beyond nasty, but I’ve found faith in humankind when it comes to these cheap, tasty noodles. Perhaps you will too as ramenrater.com reviews Sapporo Inchiban’s Chow Mein style Japanese noodles.
So after years of reviewing instant ramen noodles, here it is. Finally. Hold onto your coiffure taming device: oriental flavor. I have always considered this to be the most boring of all flavors as it really isn’t that adventurous. We’ll see if it stays in that realm of blandness as I review the latest instant noodles for ramenrater.com.
Lime green. A pleasing color to the eye however not one I would triangulate with chicken flavored instant noodles. This is really the only oddity I found here as I sampled Sapporo Ichiban’s Japanese style noodles and chicken flavored soup.

So I currently have a cold/giraffe flu and thought perhaps a liquid suspension of sodium and noodles would help. Being the microwave gourmet I am these days, I went for the big sucker pictured here. 1420mg of sodium and some Flonase and I’m starting to perk up! This was a marginal cup noodle. The noodles themselves are rather weak by comparison to Cup Noodle for example. Of course, one plus is the multiple packets. I’m a packet junkie as all Ramen Rater readers know. You get a little dehydrated veggie packet, one with soup base and then one that you add at the end with the mysterious beckoning ‘Finishing Touch.’ The veggies rehydrate quite well and provide a decent amount, but just like all other things, there’s never enough. As I said above, the noodles lacked gumption. As for the ‘Finishing Touch,’ its an oil – probably sesame. All in all, it wasn’t anything to call home about, but nothing to call the police about either. The whole deal surrounding this product is just that its enormous. Get it here. Notes: I don’t know why, but the ramen companies that cater to the U.S. customer really dropped the ball here – there’s only one packet and the noodles are of very poor quality. However, this type of ramen’s saving grace is it’s ability to be used to make a bastardized version of ‘Spaetzel,” a Scandinavian dish. Get it here.

tad bit better. The difference however, is that this package of noodles is very
