Huge noodle bowl! Fresh noodles!
Okay so this is the second one of these I’ve ever had! They are a bit spendier than the regular ones – usually they’re between $2 and $4…
So after seeing an article or two about Indomie’s problems with ‘noodlegate,’ I thought I’d show my support by eating two packages for breakfast. These are some of the best packages of noodles ever – they’re both reviewed on here already, so this is a re-review. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. Big time – good stuff here!
So Wai Wai not some of this stuff today eh? Crab flavour. Haven’t eaten a whole lot of crab in my life. Curious how it will taste…
So this came from a local snooty natural foods place in Edmonds. We’ll see how it is…
Sesame oil flavor – shouldn’t be too hard to get this stuff right eh? We’ll see how this comes out.
I must admit I laugh a little when I see this brand – I like the bit of Norwegian on the front. Biff!!! Smak!!! Sounds like the old Batman TV show! Well, Let me whip out my Bat ramen pot and cook this stuff up.
Okay so here’s some new stuff from Vffon. Let’s see how it goes! Hoping it tastes good!
So I got these noodles yesterday up the road at 99 Ranch and wow everyone else wanted to be there at the same time! Was absolutely amazing how many people were in that store all at once! Surprisingly, it took maybe 8 or so minutes to get rung up and on my way home with some nice noodles that were on sale!
Green tea noodles? Cool – something unique right? Hmmm… When I opened the package I was greeted with the odor of green tea. Yup – the noodles are infused with green tea powder and the odor is very strong.
So what’s such a big deal about this? Well, I originally did about 52 reviews to start up this website a few years ago and didn’t do much with it after that. I started reviewing hot sauces and that completely took up all my review time. But now with instant noodles so near constantly, the ramen’s called me back and it’s been a lot of fun lately! So 100 reviews since June 20th – that’s almost one a day! Insanity. Not only that, there seems to be no end in sight!
This was a really cheap bowl noodle from H-Mart. Let’s see how it is…
So the veggies and powder soup base was in the big silver packet. The little packet had sesame oil.
Some hot stuff from MAMA here today. We’ll see if it’s really hot and spicy…
Pork porridge. Let me refine that – ARTIFICIAL pork porridge. Those three words have been kind of interesting to say while this little cup has been kicking it around here. But no more. Artificial pork porridge is lunch.
So we’ve been looking at many different little and big groceries around here. It is always fun to find a new one, but I think we’ve scoured the area and gotten to them all. So here’s a couple interesting things to look at. First…
So here’s some unique noodles in a cup from the Philippines! Sotanghon chicken – what’s sotanghon? According to Wikipedia…
So continuing the cavalcade of cup soups, here we have some Maruchan Instant Lunch. Not a very standard rameny flavor but we’ll see how it tastes.
I’ve really enjoyed the chow mein that Sapporo Ichiban put out for years – curious to see how this stacks up…
So second in our series of cup noodles is the old standard. As it says on the packaging, they’ve been making Cup Noodles since 1971 and Nissin was the first to make cup noodles. Creamy chicken is a newer flavor – I’m sure plain chicken was the original.
So we begin a short look at noodle cups. I don’t think I’ve actually had a cup in a long time so this will be some fun stuff. We start with some Sapporo Ichiban shrimp flavor.
So I was going to 99 Ranch Market in Edmonds to get some 33 cent green onions but also got some of these noodles on sale for 99 cents. Good deal!
So here’s another Shirakiku. I’ve enjoyed a lot of their products – most memorably their kizami shoga. This will be the second of their instant noodle line I will review. Here we go!
Wow okay so for the 150th review here on ramenrater.com I thought I’d go for something really different. This is a big ass bowl noodle with fresh noodles! Should be interesting!
So here’s one of the large noodle bowls I have. If you’ll recall, I’ve reviewed Kitsune Udon before – I did Sapporo Ichiban’s. This one’s a little different. The Kitsune is much bigger this time. Also, it’s a bowl!
So been really wanting to try this one! Okinawa soba! We needed to spend a little more for the parking validation at Uwajimaya so this looked good! It’s a 5 pack – haven’t see anywhere selling individuals.
So found this at Uwajimaya – Higashi Foods makes it. The sticker on the back says Higashimaru Nagasaki Sara Udon. It is 99% in Japanese.
So I like Pho noodles I’ve gotten around here from the various little restaurants. Usually I get some variety of beef Pho. Let’s see how this stacks up to the real thing…
So here’s a new one. I had to add the brand as I’ve never had nor seen this brand before. Not a lot in English aside from the distributor, Hosoda Bros. Inc. and www.sakuraifoods.com.
So some Korean kimchi flavored ramen. Looks good to me, especially since we’ve been trying out Korean BBQ lately – so let’s go!
So what can I say – cheap noodles are fun too. These are from Thailand and called Mamy but they’re MAMA brand…
So this is what you’ll find at your local grocery store in the United States. I picked this one up at a dollar store. Looked interesting so thought I’d give it a go. I’m always looking for the exotic and felt I was kind of missing the more domestic and such. How can I be a true Ramen Rater without trying the stuff from across the ocean as well as in my backyard?
Got this package at a very weird little asian grocery. Very weird. The place was dirty, in extreme disarray and after we left we saw a cop pop in. Most of the signs were in sharpie on cardboard and on the way in instead of a mat or carpet, cardboard was used. Very ghetto. But I haven’t seen this stuff elsewhere so hooray!
So one of my favorite all time noodles is Indomie Mi Goreng Satay. I was very pleased to see that there was a new Mi Goreng out there – at least new to me.
So this is one of three packs of noodles I got that are actually two packs. This one was just over a dollar – thought it might be a good deal.
Some shrimp ramen – looked interesting and furong sounded weird so why not.
Veggies and oil and powder – a lot of powder!
So thought it would be nice to spice it up a bit and modify some Korean noodles for breakfast. So I picked the basis to be the Ottogi Jin Ramen.
Why not right? Some of the stuff that most folks are more used to – big bowls of noodles with easy to understand flavors like chicken and not some kind of melange of paste and rice noodles. Yeah why not.
Some noodles from Thailand today. I’ve reviewed some noodles that are by MAMA and Tom Yum but not the creamy.
So after a long walk I was really quite hungry and decided to go with something simple and figured this would taste nice. Fresh shrimp sounds nice. I also really love how this brand has the text in another language – looks like dutch perhaps? Frisk Rekesmak!!!
Thought it was a bowl something – didn’t expect it would be a bowl of not noodle!
