A Time Honored Family Ramen Tradition

A Time Honored Family Ramen Tradition

Today is a special day. It was the first day that my (at the time) future wife and I moved in together. Since then, we’ve made this recipe for instant noodles time, and time again. It’s a tradition. Traditions are important, like monster trucks and motocross rallies; like fresh air, happiness, and warm summer nights. Allow me to proudly present the last ramen hack that you will ever need in your arsenal – an arsenal of freedom to taste excellence. ...see full post

#4116: immi Tom Yum “Shrimp” Flavor Ramen Soup – United States

#4116: immi Tom Yum "Shrimp" Flavor Ramen Soup - United States

This is the third of three immi varieties I received from the company – thanks! They use pumpkin flour to make these noodles and thus far, I’ve had mixed results on the noodles’ consistency and chew. The first one I disliked a lot, however the second I liked quite a bit. Let’s check out this third and final iteration. ...see full post

#4115: Nan Chuan Dao Sheng Wuhan Sesame Hot Sauce Konjac Rice Noodle – China

#4115: Mingdao Wuhan Sesame Hot Sauce Konjac Rice Noodle - China

Konjac noodles generally are very chewy and rubbery – unless they have a gauge that works well with them. That being said, they’re also quite low in calories – extremely low. This one seems to marry konjac and rice together for the noodle. However, if it were simply konjac, it would be much lower. Anyways, let’s see what we have. ...see full post

#4112: Red Chef Hae Bee Hiam Dried Noodles – Singapore

#4112: Red Chef Hae Bee Hiam Dried Noodles - Malaysia

This one was on the global top ten list last year, but under a different brand name. This time, it’s by Red Chef. But does it taste the same? One easy way to find out! I remember a strong prawn flavor that was just relentless – and if you like sweet prawn sauce like me, you’re going to really lose it over this. Let’s check it out! ...see full post

#4111: immi Spicy “Beef” Flavor Ramen Soup – United States

#4111: immi Spicy "Beef" Flavor Ramen Soup - United States

Pumpkin seed noodles – it just fascinated me, especially since I’ve been doing weird things with bread. Now I want a noodle machine to load with all sorts of interesting things… Very curious how this oe will turn out. Last time, they were on the extremely chewy side and so we will see. Let’s give these low carb noodles a try! ...see full post

Hi-Lai Foods Lai Noodle Vegan Sesame Paste Flavor - Taiwan

Definitely excited about this one – today I got home from a ten mile walk and found a big box at my doorstep. I haven’t even edited the unboxing video yet – and here we are. This as far as I can tell, is their Pepper Sesame Lai Noodle – it also sounds like it’s the favorite of an influential lady in Taiwan. Let’s check it out! ...see full post

Meet The Manufacturer: #4104: Best Wok Mi Goreng Original – Indonesia

#4181: Best Wok Mi Goreng Original - Indonesia

This is one jazzed company. Why? A big time influencer in Indonesia says that she likes their mi goreng better than Indomie’s. That’s truly a big deal – and so here we are with their new recipe for mi goreng to find out whether I agree. I did do the hot and spicy and honestly, that one was great – especially since it has a nicer oiliness oto the noodle and wasn’t as dry as their competition – I’d say I liked Best Wok’s better. Let’s see how this new original mi goreng fares. ...see full post

#4101: Nongshim Tonkotsu Ramen With Kuromayu Black Garlic Oil – United States

#4101: Nongshim Tonkotsu Ramen With Kuromayu Black Garlic Oil - United States

For the longest time, I only thought there was a single variety of Nongshim’s Tonkotsu bowl – the spicy one. Lo and behold, there’s this one with black garlic oil as well. What’s more, I think both exist concurrently. The spicy one has a five star rating from me and is at the top of the USA top ten. Let’s check this new one out! ...see full post

#4091: immi Black Garlic “Chicken” Flavor Ramen Soup – United States

#4091: immi Black Garlic "Chicken" Flavor Ramen Soup - United States

As soon as I heard about this stuff I was curious. But that was a long time ago and I’d almost forgotten why I was so curious until I did the unboxing. This stuff is made with pumpkin seed protein! That’s definitely unique. 22g of protein and 6g of net carbs. Ah, I remember net carbs. So, for every gram of fiber, you can knock off a carb. This has a ton of fiber. I’m really curious. Let’s give it a try. ...see full post

#4087: Nanchang Rice Noodles Classic Flavor – China

#4087: Nanchang Rice Noodles Classic Flavor - China

Found these at Asian Family Market on 130th & Aurora. Don’t really know anything about these. What I can say is that they also have a crawfish flavor variety. There are so many Chinese brands that show up these days with a single variety and very little info. I should say though lots of English on this one which makes translation painless and cooking instructions are included in that. Let’s give ’em a go! ...see full post
