We went to Walmart on Black Friday! Well, let me explain – it was at 6pm or so, so the amount of crazy people was lower. It seems though that the Walmart we always go to has a surplus of crazy people usually. I imagine the early morning Black Friday folks would’ve been a scary lot. One thing I noticed was that they hadn’t bought all of the noodles, so I thought I’d get a couple to re-review. Here’s one of them last time I tried it, it was revirew #207. Hoping some new things to review come soon – only have one in the hamper that’s needing review… Re-reviews are fun though since they’re not been visited in so long.

#924: Maruchan 35% Less Sodium Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup
Strange how lately Walmart has become a treasure trove for Maruchan products – found six I hadn’t reviewed there recently! Anyways, here’s the chicken lower sodium pack.
#900: Maruchan Instant Lunch Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodles With Vegetables
When I recently redid The Big List, I noticed some things. One of them was that I have never reviewed this one, nor it’s Beef or Shrimp fellow Instant Lunches! Talk about an oversight on my part… I’m hoping that I’ll be able to do a Meet The Manufacturer with Maruchan soon – thanks to everyone who has asked me to do one, it’s just I’ve never been able to successfully get in touch with them. Well, here we go with a close up and personal with Maruchan’s Instant Lunch: Chicken Flavor.
Meet The Manufacturer #887: Yamachan Ramen Cold Noodles With Lemon Soy Dressing
I’ve had a few cold noodle varieties from South Korean manufacturers, but never any Japanese cold noodles. Let’s have a look at this one!

This is something a little different. This is two servings of fresh ramen in a pack. They’re made in San Jose and this looks to be something gourmet. Let’s check it out!
New Product Samples From Nongshim America!
Today I got a big box in the mail from Nongshim America! Wonder what’s inside…
Bowl Noodles! But wait – Chapagetti in a bowl? Yep! This is one of the things I got to try while at Nongshim America in May. Not only did I get to try these new bowl products in their R&D department but was able to watch them being made – from raw ingredients to wrapped bowl all in an efficient straight line. Twas amazing! I’ll be reviewing these very soon! Keep your eyes peeled! Thanks go to Mr. Ray Adams and everyone else at Nongshim America for sending these along!
#849: Nissin Top Ramen Cucharealo Home-Style Tomato Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup
Here’s another one of the new varieties that Nissin Foods USA sent me earlier this month to review. I got a comment from someone saying Cucharealo means ‘spoon it up.’ Makes sense – Nissin has a similar product called ‘Spoon it’ with flavors like chicken, beef and beet stew while the Cucharealo line is more hitting the Mexican flavors. The last one I tried was awesome – let’s give this one a try!
#832: Dragonfly Mee-Goreng Dry Ramen Noodles
Found this the other day at KS Mart in Lynnwood (that’s where I git my kimchi!). This is from China – never had a Chinese made mee-goreng before! Usually I like the Dragonfly stuff though. Let’s give this a go!
A Gift From The President Of Nongshim America
It’s been a couple months since our trip to Nongshim in Rancho Cucamonga, California. I was sent a very nice gift from the president of Nongshim America to thank us for visiting and for our reviews! Thank you! This is a golden pot, a very standard cooking item in Korea used to make ramyun!
Re-Review: Meet The Manufacturer: Paldo Teumsae Ramyun
I saw a YouTube video recently where a man is trying to handle the heat of this instant ramyun. He couldn’t – to the point of cursing these noodles. Another reason that Paldo’s Teumsae Ramyun is #1 on the Top Ten Spiciest Instant Noodles of All Time list. But Teumsae; what is that? Teumsae is a well known restaurant chain in Korea. They’re well known for their spicy ways as well!
#792: Nongshim Bowl Noodle Soup Spicy Chicken Flavor (New Version)
The 200th review I did was the old version of this stuff! Over 500 reviews later, we come to the new version. So far, these new ones have been quite good.
#791: Acecook Super Big Ramen Tonkotsu Flavor Japanese Style Instant Noodle
Here’s one I got a while ago at Uwajimaya in Seattle. It’s big, Japanese and tonkotsu flavor – sounds much better than the last one I had!
Meet The Manufacturer: An Interview With Nongshim America
The Ramen Rater On KBS America TV!
During my trip to Nongshim America, I was interviewed – here’s what they aired on TV! This is the first time I’ve ever been on television! Pretty exciting! If someone would like to translate this, I would be very appreciative.
#754: Nongshim Ansungtangmyun Spicy Miso Noodle Soup (USA version)
Okay so I thought this was interesting. Look at the noodle block in this one – very different isn’t it? Well, Let’s give this one a try – this one was made in the USA in Rancho Cucamonga, California.
Re-Review: Meet The Manufacturer: Nongshim Shin Ramyun Black Premiun Noodle Soup
Here we go with the last of the Shin Ramyun varieties I’ll be doing for Nongshim Meet The Manufacturer week. Shin Ramyun Black!
Re-Review: Meet The Manufacturer: Nongshim Shin Ramyun Noodle Soup
It’s been a heck of a long time since I had one of these – over three years! Shin Ramyun is Nongshim’s most well known product – let’s see how it goes now, after trying over 600 varieties since I last tried it!
#750: Meet The Manufacturer: Nongshim Bowl Noodles Spicy Kimchi Flavor (New Version)
I figured for Meet The Manufacturer Week: Nongshim, I would start with a Bowl Noodles I saw get made while I was at their plant! They were cranking them out en masse! I’ve reviewed the old packaging / version in the past and these new ones are very different. They’re made to be cooked in the microwave, so that’s how I’ll cook them.
Donation Of Samples From Nongshim America & Nongshim Korea!
I got two shipments today – one from Nongshim America, which I visited last week (there’ll be a lot of stuff all about the visit, the plant tour and the people very soon!). Here’s the first one from Nongshim America!
The Ramen Rater Really Meets The Manufacturer On Nongshim USA Trip!
Tomorrow, my wife and I are headed to the airport to fly down to the Nongshim USA plant in Rancho Cucamonga, California! There, we’re going to do a plant tour, a noodle tasting, and a videotaped interview for the next Meet The Manufacturer, which (you guessed it) will feature Nongshim. We’ll return on Saturday with stories and pictures – I might do a post while we’re down there from my phone possibly. I want to say thank you to the wonderful folks at Nongshim USA for this opportunity to learn more about their company and instant noodles! We’re really looking forward to this! Next stop, southern California.
#709: Nissin Original Chow Mein Spicy Chicken Flavor
Here’s another Nissin – had to make something quick today – it’s my wife’s birthday! Happy birthday, Kitten!
Meet The Manufacturer: Interview with Nissin Foods USA – Makers of Top Ramen, Cup Noodles & More
Welcome to the second installment in the ‘Meet The Manufacturer’ series! This one’s with Nissin, makers of the ever-popular Top Ramen, Cup Noodles and the like. They sent a nice package of different instant varieties to sample – most of them new to me. The following interview is with Senior Marketing Manager, Linda Chung, facilitated by Senior Marketing Coordinator Scott Akazaki.
#652: Sapporo Ichiban Shio Ramen Japanese Style Noodles
Soon as I saw this, I was really excited. I really like Shio (salt) ramen. I don’t know what it is, but it works! What’s more is this stuff is made in California. I found it at H Mart in Lynnwood, Washington. Let’s dig in!
#558: Long Kow’s Crystal Noodle Soup Vegetables ( and Eggs )
Thought this looked worth trying. Vegetables and noodles. Sure why not.
Here’s the flavoring packet if you want to call it that. It says Vegetables and Eggs though… I am truly unhappy – I didn’t take a picture of this and I’m really bummed and truly sorry. It looked like a brick of freeze-dried vegetable omelet. When I poured boiling water on it, it disintegrated and started fluffing up almost immediately.
#453: Nongshim Savory Bowl Noodle Chicken Flavored Noodle Soup
So I thought I’d tried every single variety of these but I found yet another in California! This is just chicken – not spicy chicken. So here we go with the noodling!
#448: Ve Wong Kung-Fu Artificial Sesame Chicken Flavor Instant Oriental Noodle Soup
Here we have some noodles from Vietnam. I got these during the trip to California in Pleasanton. I’m figuring these won’t be too bad – in my time as a noodle reviewer, I must say that chicken flavor is pretty hard to screw up. So let’s see what we have here!
#447: Ve Wong Little Prince Brand Snack Noodles Bacon Flavor
So I wasn’t sure what this was at first – I figured by the color that they were shrimp flavored or something. Then I looked below and saw…
News: The Ramen Box
So whilst on our honeymoon, California had some nice places to get some noodles. The box is overflowing with noodles! It’s really a great thing! So Lots of new varieties to try and review for you soon.
Where To Get It: OC Market Poultry & Rotisserie in Anaheim, CA
This place was awesome! Quite a few varieties of noodles I hadn’t seen before – pretty much the full line of FF bowls and even a Sunlee square bowl. Not only that, but the woman who was at the register was really nice and actually talked to us! A lot of the time at checkouts at Asian groceries I find that the people working there don’t make eye contact or even speak to us at all. One other thing – the place smelled really good – I think that it’d be an excellent place to eat in as well. Highly recommended!
Where To Get It: 99 Ranch Market in Anaheim
So after an awesome day at Lego Land California, we went back North to Anaheim to crash and ready ourselves for Disneyland the next day. Not far from where we stayed was a Ranch 99 Market. This one was different from the others I have been in – there were palm trees out front for starters! Then there was the fact that after you go through the main door there was a little gate you went through. Aside from that, it seemed a little smaller than others too. They had spoken advertising on the overhead speakers – in English – and every time they said ‘per pound’ it was exactly the same and rather amusing! They also played music and I really enjoyed that – really crazy sound track like music that sounded like a bad guy in a movie was creeping up on an unsuspecting victim! Their instant noodle selection was decent, which was very nice. I really liked the place a lot!
What Gives? Where Are The Reviews?
So nothing new for a week or so – we got hitched and we’re on our honeymoon! I should return with plenty of noodles to review!
#425: Chikara Shrimp Flavor Udon
So something a little more tame. Shrimp udon! Should be good and tasty I imagine. Fresh noodles are always good.
#420: Sapporo Ichiban Beef Flavor With Natural & Artificial Flavors Oriental Noodle Soup
As promised, here’s another of Sapporo Ichiban’s cup line. Again, we see the cooked and ready product being inundated with more piping hot water. Weird picture…
#416: Sapporo Ichiban Chicken Flavor With Natural & Artificial Flavors Oriental Noodle Soup (Cup)
A couple things to start out with here as this picture is somewhat ridiculous. So they’re adding water to the cup. The water is up to the line already and not only that, the contents appear to already be done cooking; the veggies are clearly re-hydrated. Kind of weird I thought.
#373: Nissin Cup Noodles Chicken Vegetable Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup
So here’s one my lady Kit brought me back from California! Cup Noodles Chicken Vegetable time!
#360: Nissin Cup Noodles Hearty Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup
Another one from California! Thanks my lovely Kitten! So this should be good I hope! Onward!
#347: Sunny Maid Mi Chay Vegetarian Ramen
So this has been one I’ve been curious about for a while. It’s lurked in my ramen box, quietly asking me to try it from time to time. I heeded its call, and tonight gave it the trappings of a fine bowl of noodles.
