The Definitive Source For Instant Noodle Reviews Since 2002
Got a package from Greg B. of Marathon, Florida today! I wonder what’s inside?
Rad box, btw!
Here’s another one that’s been needing a quick review. This was purchased in July of last year in California!
Here’s one that has been in the noodle bin since the trip to California my wife and son and I took in July! Time to eat. Mushroom pork just didn’t sound too good, but you know me, I have to try it.
Thanks again to Chad B. of Highland, Illinois for sending these Master Kong packs! Braised beef eh? Hmmm I wonder how this will be – if the Pork one was any indicator, I’m going to like this!
Haven’t had any Lucky Me! in quite some time. This is a smaller version of the Lucky Me! La Paz Batchoy I’ve had before. Let give this one a renewed and smaller look!
Well, another week has come and gone and it’s time for another results post for Show Your Noodles! If you’d like to participate, send pictures and a description to info@ramenrater.com!
Thanks to Todd T. of Everett, Washington for hooking me up with this one – he got it from a Vietnamese client. Spaghetti from Vietnam eh? Sounds interesting. Nothing at all is in English on this packaging, so I’m going to be winging it.
Such a classic – almost as American as it is Japanese! Actually, this packet was made in California. Just like rival Nissin, Maruchan has a huge southern California factory. Here’s a re-review of this standard that probably everyone has had once in their lifetime.
Let me make a disclaimer before you read this post. I am not a doctor or health official, and I dont hold a doctorate. The information I am providing you here is through my own research – though all major health agencies have made statements that agree with the facts that I will present to you here. This is the best information that is available at the time of this post. If new things should be discovered in the future, this information may change.
So I was looking around for ramen news to post here one day and I came across a blog post about bizarre foods. I put it on TRR and got a nice note frtom the bloggers! Now they’ve done a part two and been kind enough to mention The Ramen Rater! Here is a link to their blog. I spent some time reading and it looks really cool – they’ve done an entire travelogue of their trip to Nepal and climbing 18,250 foot Kala Patthar! See? Instant noodles aren’t so bad for you, are they?
Here we have one of the three packages I got yesterday as part of a gracious donation from a fellow named Chad B. of Highland, Il. Thanks again! Stickers coming soon! I haven’t tried Master Kong products before so I did a little reseasrch on Wikipedia:
Here’s another one that was sent to me by Michelle L. of New York! I know… Yep – it’s a swastika, the symbol of the national socialist party of Germany in WWII, the Nazis. Well, Wei-Wei isn’t a Nazi company or has anything to do with oppression. On the complete opposite side, in the far east it represents the whole of creation as well as Buddhism. Wikipedia says:
Wasn’t expecting any more presents – Christmas is over! A lightweight box… Hmm…
You might be viewing this website today because of the article they did about me in The Everett Herald – or not! Either way, I thought I’d break out something I found last week that I’m really stoked on. This is a bowl I got at Uwajimaya, a Japanese grocery in Seattle (there’s one in Bellevue, too).
Hey so I’m coating page B3 of the Everett Herald today! I scanned the page below (click the image to enlarge it) – here’s a link to the article on the Everett Herald’s website.
I’ve heard now from two separate sources that this Kkokkomyeon stuff is really popular and is going to be a really big deal when it comes to the USA. Both a seller of instant noodles alluded to it as well as a mention by name by the lady at the Kitty House at 99 Ranch Market (they sell Hello Kitty stuff there).
Here are some new articles about instant noodles you might find interesting.
Instant noodles and anti-regime leaflets rain down on North Korea
You like it hot? This stuff is good and it delivers some decent heat too. I’ve had the cup, the pack and now, the big bowl. Wonder if there’s a regular sized bowl? Hmm…
Another ‘bottom of the hamper’ pick. Not a huge fan of the bean thread – you surely know that if you’re a follower of this blog. Really hoping to become one though – maybe pork will change my view.
For the first week of “Show Your Noodles,” I received only one entry. Hoping some more of you decide to send some pictures! All you need to do is take a picture of the instant noodles you’re eating and send it to me at info@ramenrater.com. Here’s the entry sent by Annika from Estonia! Thanks, Annika! Happy New Year!!!
What an awesome bowl of noodles. First, it’s a new brand to me – Yamamoto. Second, it’s got tempura in there as well as udon. Third, there’s a couple tanuki on the label.
Happy New Year! Let’s start things off a little different with some cold noodles – or should I say cold noodle Regardless, in the past I haven’t been a great fan of cold noodles, but hey, new year, new noodle. Let’s give it a try.
Here’s another from the bottom of the hamper! My sister Sue got this one for me on a trip to Canada earlier this year. Looks like this’ll be the last noodle to be reviewed in 2011! But these aren’t your ordinary looking noodles, are they? Instant macaroni! Let’s try it!
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
Thought I’d toss out some links to some interesting noodle-related stories I’ve been checking out. Enjoy!
Here’s one that was at the bottom of the ramen hamper so needed immediate attention today. Curry is one of my favorite flavors! I hope this is good stuff!
For awhile now, I’ve known that having the site be The Ramen Rater and having the ‘the’ out of the domain name was a kind of bad idea, I thought I’d fix it by adding wwww.theramenrater.com. So you will be able to go to www.ramenrater.com or www.theramenrater.com. Like that? No? Yes? Well, okay then.
Made a trip to Seattle and hit up Uwajimaya and got a ton of new noodles – lots of Japanese bowls! Anyways, let’s start with this prawn tom yam…
So I finally got my copies of the big Sunday article in the Skagit Valley Herald (thanks to my sister Sue!) and now have scanned them to view here. Click on the images to see a readable image.
Here’s one my sister got when she was up in Canada earlier this year! Let’s see how they fare.
I remember reviewing this one a while back up in Anacortes – got it and was really stoked as I’d never seen it before!
The last noodles were so bad that I had to toss them. What a waste! Ah well, this should be good enough to eat!!!
Here’s one that we got at a northern Oregon Chevron of all places. Man, I’m still jonesin’ to try the Beef Taco and Jalapeno Cheddar flavors!!!
This is the last of the Super Noodles sent by Cindy C. of England. Thanks again!
So today is my wife and I’s second anniversary. No, not a wedding anniversary – we got married in July. This is our two year ‘Click-I-Versary.” You see, we met on an online dating website! Two years ago today she clicked a button on my profile and let me know she liked me. I did the same. The chatted online for a little bit and then called and talked to each other for many hours – the rest is history! I can honestly say I’ve never been happier in my life. Love you, Kitten!
Hello fellow “Rameners” My name is Greg, and I am a Ramenholic. As a new contributor to RamenRater.com I thought it would be appropriate to use my first post to share how I prepare Ramen noodles.
Here’s yet another from Michelle L. of New York. I am really digging the “A” series so far!
This is one of the samples sent by Empire International – thanks again to them and Jim C.! Many years ago, I tried this stuff. This was the first Indomie product I’d ever tried! I used to get tons of this stuff – my folks would bring it back to Anacortes from Seattle , a bit of a journey for noodles! All the packets, the draining, the eggs… This is where it all begand for me.
Here’s another that was sent to me by Michelle L. of New York. This is something I’ve never had before – Wei-Wei brand. Wai Wai yes, Wei-Wei, no. The packaging is interesting – note the guy with the suave hat in the upper right. He’s there; on the scene – purchasing noodles . Let’s see if these noodles rock. Note the economical 49 cent price tag!
