This was one in a box sent by Mohd from Selangor, Malaysia – thank you again! So I was trying to figure out how to translate this one. Basically, Pedas Giler is ‘crazy spicy.’ I’m all in on this one- after reviewing the Ayam Bakar version, people said this one was even spicier. Let’s check it out!

Meet The Manufacturer: #3089: Way Premium Foods Authentic Penang Prawn Mee – Malaysia
One thing’s for sure – when I visited Penang, Malaysia in 2014, I tried a lot of prawn mee. A lot. I think upwards of 5 different bowls from different hawkers and restaurants. It’s serious business, folks! Strong prawn flavors, a sweetness, just plain amazing stuff that’s delicious and addictive. When it comes to prawn mee, I’m very interested. Let’s delve into this new one from Malaysia and see what makes it tick.

#3064: Lee Fah Mee Instant Noodle With Abalone And Chicken Flavour – Sarawak
Found this one up in Canad at a market in Richmond, BC called China World. I’ll be the first to admit that I like chicken, but abalone just isn’t my thing usually. Hopefully this one will be pretty good. Let’s find out!
#3055: Mamee / Shinsegae Daebak Spicy Fried Chicken Dry Noodles – Malaysia
This one was sent by a person named Shoffee in Malaysia – my thanks! This is truly something I’d never be able to review without a reader sending it in. From what I’m getting on the package, it looks to be much like the popular fire noodles. At the very least, it’s definitely influenced by them. Let’s give them a try!
#3025: Uncle Sun Dry Black Pepper Crab Noodle – Malaysia
Got an email awhile back about a couple new Uncle Sun varieties. I’d not tried anything from them since their white curries and was happy to hear about their black pepper crab and chili crab offerings. Really want to try this one… Well, no time like the present!

#2884: Lee Fah Mee Instant Noodle With Curry Flavour
`
Today we’ve got one from Sarawak! I’ve reviewed only one other by this brand before. I found this at China World up in Richmond, BC. I tell ya, if you’re a noodle fan, Richmond is the place to go. Let’s crack this one open and see what we have.
#2877: Super Cup Instant Noodle Seafood Flavour
Found this one at the Hi-Life store at the Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei, Taiwan. Notice on the image it says ‘improved taste’. Making this claim always gives me a bit of a laugh. You could also call it ‘different taste,’ right? Was it too watery before so the amount of liquid added recommendation changed? more of one ingredient? Less of another? Well, we shall never know because all it says is ‘improved taste.’ Also – improved for whom? Person on the left likes it, person on the right wishes it were like it used to be. Anyways, there’s no person A or B here – there’s just me and my tongue. Let’s give it a try!
#2819: World O’ Noodle Asam Laksa Flavour Instant Noodles
Got this one at the Jason’s Market at the foot of the Taipei 101. Asam laksa – possibly a new taste for you. Here’s something from Wikipedia –
#2808: Super Super Cup Signature White Curry
I was surprised to find this one in Taiwan – had seen it in images online quite a few times before but yeah – Taiwan! I got this at the Hi-Life store at the Nangang Exhibition Center. I really didn’t think Malaysian food would be popular in Taiwan, but actually I went to PappaRich over there – a chain of Malaysian restaurants. I’m pretty sure nowhere is immune to the White Curry craze! Strong flavors and spicy broth is pretty good anywhere you go. Let’s crack this cup open and look around!
#2803: World O’Noodle Curry Flavour Instant Noodle
Curry
Found this one in November 2017 at the same place I found some by this brand in 2016 as well – at the Jason’s Market at the base of the Taipei 101. I thought today would be a good day for some relaxing curry – I spent the weekend videotaping and video editing. Curry sounds good to me. Let’s give it a try!
The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodles Of All Time 2018 Edition
NEW LIST FOR 2019 – CHECK IT OUT HERE
Well, it’s that time again. Since the last The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodles Of All Time list came out , I’ve reviewed 383 different varieties. I want to thank the companies and individuals who have sent me varieties I could not easily get. Incidentally, all of these are reviewed the same way – I follow instructions to the letter and taste each variety before I add any external garnish.. I figure that a naked bowl of noodles every day would be quite boring, plus it has given many ideas on what to add to them. As always, if you are an instant noodle company or a reader who wants me to try one that I’ve not, please contact me. With that, let’s have a look at the top ten for 2018 – the finest and most memorable instant noodles I’ve tried.
Meet The Manufacturer: #2763: Red Chef Sesame Clear Soup Noodles
Today, we bid adieu to Red Chef with this, the last review. I’ve had quite a few clear soup varieties in my day – and they’ve always kind of confused me, to be honest. The name kind of brings up the thought of something thin and kind of bland to be honest, but they’re generally never that. With what I’ve sampled from Red Chef thus far, I’m going to guess bland isn’t going to be what I find here. Let’s check out this clear soup, the last of the four reviews for this Meet The Manufacturer!
Meet The Manufacturer: #2762: Red Chef Pandan White Curry Noodles
It seems that Red Chef is focusing their range on unique facets in their creations – Sakura prawn, the green tom yum and here we have a white curry with pandan. So, what’s pandan? Here’s a bit from Wikipedia –
Meet The Manufacturer: #2761: Red Chef Green Tom Yum Soup Noodles
Green Tom Yum? Hey, this is something unique and new to me! I wonder what the story is on this… Let’s find out from Red Chef:
Meet The Manufacturer: Product Samples From Red Chef (2 of 2)
Got word of the fourth variety of Red Chef’s range was going to be coming my way and so was really excited to try. This time, FedEx guy just left it at the door without making me sign for it. Kind of funny how it works – sometimes they want a signature, sometimes they dont. Sometimes they bring it to the door, others they get brought to the apartment office. Well, let’s crack it open!
Meet The Manufacturer: #2760: Red Chef Spicy Sakura Prawn Soup Noodles
To start things off, we have a variety with Sakura prawns. I’ve never heard of these – here’s what Wikipedia has to say about them:
Meet The Manufacturer: Product Samples From Red Chef (1 of 2)
It’s usually the same thing every time – a knock at the door and a semi-confused looking guy handing me a package. We have some Lunar New Year stuff on our front door and so I’m guessing they’re expecting someone Asian to answer their knocking. Surprise! Big white guy. Anyways, let’s see what neat things are inside this box!
Meet The Manufacturer: Interview With Red Chef
#2757: MyKuali Penang Hokkien Prawn Noodle (2018 Recipe)
I’ve always been impressed how often MyKuali changes their recipes. I want to say this may be the fourth iteration of the Hokkien Prawn Noodle thus far – at least that they’ve sent and I know of. I’ll admit I’ve not always been keen on the changes, but it really is nice to see companies that want to keep improving – even a product that’s very well received to begin with. Let’s see how this new change taste!
#2748: MyKuali Penang Red Tom Yum Goong Noodle (2018 Recipe)
There have been some big changes over at MyKuali and the recipes of all their flavors are getting a bit of ‘tweaking.’ Many times in the past, MyKuali has changed recipes. I’m very curious to see what they’ve done with this one. The first time I tried it was in 2014 and I really enjoyed it then – it ended up on the 2015 Top Ten – let’s see how this new recipe taste.
#2741: MyKuali Penang White Curry Noodle (2018 Recipe)
This is the instant noodle that started my fascination with Malaysia. About five years ago I got some samples and was just floored. It hit 7th place back then on the top ten spicy list and was a really big deal. Then it hit #1 on the regular top ten list in 2014. The recipe has changed at least three times since it’s original release I think and this might be the fourth iteration of flavor for Penang White Curry from Mykuali. Let’s not delay – let’s give it a try!
Unboxing Time: MyKuali Sends New Recipe Samples
Sometimes a package will get routed through Anchorage, AK and this can prove a bit harrowing for it and it’s contents. Luckily, despite one side being completely ripped open, it made it through not only the rough treatment but a call from the customs folks asking what was inside…
#2679: MyKuali Penang White Curry Noodle
This is the MyKuasli Penang White Curry Noodle variety that comes from Singapore – rather it’s made for Singapore. I don’t believe it’s different except for the packaging, but to be honest, any chance UI have to review another MyKuali pack is worth it to me to do so. It’s just a no-brainer; I love their stuff. So let’s have a look.
#2584: MyKuali Penang White Curry Rice Vermicelli Soup
This is the third of the rice vermicelli (bihun) varieties that MyKuali has come out with in cups. I was very surprised yesterday – happily so. They now have them at the 99 Ranch store near me – all of their pack range, the rice vermicelli bowls and the cup versions as well. Pretty surprised to see them actually – but it’s a good thing since it seems Malaysian flavors are really making a big punch into the outer world.
#2552: MyKuali Penang White Curry Rice Vermicelli Soup
Ah, MyKuali white curry. You know, I think one of the biggest ‘aha’ moments was when I first tried MyKuali Penang White Curry Noodle back in 2013. They contacted me and asked if I’d like to try it. I’d only had a few scant Malaysian varieties and really didn’t know much about Malaysian foods or food culture at all. I think seeing that big sachet of paste made me do a double take, and the fact that the curry flavor was nothing like I’d tried before.
The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Spiciest Instant Noodles Of All Time 2017 Edition
NOTE – THERE IS A NEW TOP TEN SPICY LIST FOR 2018 – HERE IT IS
It’s that time of year again! Actually, this is the first time the list is coming out in July although at the tail end of July. I usually have the lists come out on the Monday closest to the date it came out the prior year. So this list is a compilation of absolutely hottest and spiciest varieties I’ve had out of the 2,500+ varieties I’ve tried thus far. Something you think belongs on this spiciest of lists? Let me know – I’ll give it a try. Let’s get started!
#2510: MyKuali Penang Red Tom Yum Goong Noodle
Today, we have the Singaporean version of MyKuali’s Tom Yum Goong. For those of you who haven’t had tom yum, here’s a little from Wikipedia –
