This sounds really good – I’ve had rose Buldak before but this is something very different. I’ve had the pack version of Tangle which is more of a creamy thing without a kimchi aspect. Looking forward to trying this – the last one I’m reviewing this week.

#4791: Samyang Nagasaki Jjambbong – United States
This is one I tried when it debuted way back. There were a couple of versions as well. This one is made in South Korea and packaged for sale in the US market. Jjambbong is like a spicy seafood stew. This on the other hand is the same but with a more milky broth. This is a really great one when I’ve had it in the past – let’s visit it again!
#4753: Samyang Buldak Butter Chicken Curry – South Korea
Well, look at this! Thanks to The Fat Hipster for sending this over! It’s kind of funny – this is the first of three varieties sent and I’ve been kind of slow to get to them as they’re not instant noodles, they’re curry sauces. However, lately I’ve been making curries constantly lately. I’ve learned the way of black cardamom too. But here we have one by a company also known for their spicy instant noodle. I actually made butter chicken last night too. Let’s see how this one goes.
The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten South Korean Instant Noodles Of All Time 2024 Edition
This one usually comes out in January, but a little late this year on edits. However, this one’s ready to go! This is my list of favorite South Korean varieties from my reviews up to number 4,650. Definitely want to try more South Korean varieties – especially those only found in South Korea – not export versions if at all possible. Anyways, let’s boil some water and check out The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten South Korean Instant Noodles Of All Time 2024 Edition!
#4646: Samyang Foods Samyang Ramen – United States
So here’s one I’ve really enjoyed for a long time. Indeed, it has also been in exitence for quite awhile as well. It’s the original variety that was introduced to the South Korean market back in 1963. Initially, it was mistaken as a textile which is kind of funny, but that didn’t last long at all. This is the packaging for export, but it’s the same as what you’ll find in South Korea.
#4624: Samyang Buldak Basil & Cream Udon – South Korea
Here’s one that came by way of The Fat Hipster – check him out on YouTube! Thanks, man! This looks to be quite a departure from the normal Buldak fare – basil and cream seems pretty usual, but udon – hmm. It sounds pretty decent – let’s give it a try! Oh, and yes – there will be a mukbang at the bottom.
#4611: Samyang Foods Buldak Hot Chicken Stir-fried Noodles Jjajang – South Korea
Here’s another variety I’d not seen which came by way of The Fat Hipster, a guy who has tried some fascinating things on his YouTube channel, and is also part of Section42, a group of moderators for the Ramen Junkies group on Facebook. Check both out – and thanks, bro!
#4467: Samyang Buldak Cream Carbonara Artificial Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen – South Korea
Here’s one of the last two from The Fat Hipster – check him out on YouTube as he has eaten pumpkin spice cup noodles, topped with pumpkin spice spam, with whipped cream atop. This is really great. So these noodles are like an extra creamy carbonara as far as I can tell without knowing anything about them. But, I will cook them up and then do a mukbang where I eat them and I will let you know how they taste. Let’s get started.
#4459: Samyang Buldak Quattro Cheese Artificial Spicy Chicken Flavor Ramen – United States
Here’s another export version for the United States. Four cheese Buldak! What are the four cheeses you ask? Mozzarella, gouda, cheddar, and camambert. It says so in the ingredients. I’ve had the pack version of this and was very impressed. Let’s give the bowl version a try – time for a spin in the microwave.
#4309: Samyang Foods Buldak 2x Spicy Artificial Spicy Chicken Flavor Ramen Cup – United States
You know, I was surprised. Thought I’d reviewed the 2x Spicy cup before – but apparently, I hadn’t! Lucky me! I’m curious if this will burn my face off. While I thoroughly enjoyed my recent review of the Curry Buldak, it was less spicy than I’d expected. How will this one fare? I’m guessing it’ll light my mouth on fire! Let’s find out!
#4286: Samyang Foods Buldak Curry Artificial Spicy Chicken Flavor Ramen – United States
It’s been a long time since I reviewed a Buldak variety, that’s for sure! I have tried the curry before, but it’s been a very, very long time. The packaging is new, and I’m guessing the recipe is slightly different as well. Below you can see everything about this including my review, a video of cooking it, and then of course, a mukbang. This is the version for export to the United States. Let’s give it a go – hope I can handle it!
#4240: Samyang Buldak Habanero Lime Artificial Spicy Chicken Flavor Ramen – United States
Well, I’m sure you’ve been curious (or didn’t know) about this one. This is another variety with Hochi wearing some ‘south of the border’ attire. I decided to rush this one out and I’ll be doing the other one tomorrow I think. So much interest in there varieties. This is something different – not the cooking instructions – I’m curious if this is going to be the standard for all of the buldak varieties going forward. Till will tell. I’d like to thank MH, a fellow mod from the Ramen Junkies group for sending this along! Note – this one is made in South Korea and packaged for sale in the United States. Don’t forget to check out the cooking show and the mukbang below! Rushing this one due to popular interest! Let’s give it a go!
The Definitive Guide To Samyang Buldak 2.0
#3991: Samyang Foods Buldak Kimchi HOT Chicken Flavored Ramen – South Korea
Here’s one that came via Exotic Noods – check ’em out and use coupon code THERAMENRATER for a discount!
#3677: Samyang Foods Challenge Buldak Bibimmyun – South Korea
A little while back, Samyang Foods produced a variety called Buldak Mini. It was a smaller noodle block, however it clocked in at 12,000 SHU. Since people like to go big or go home, they came out with this – Challenge Buldak. This time it’s a full size noodle block, and it is served cold. Again, this one comes in at 12,000 SHU. They even have a hashtag mentioning this challenge attribute. I decided to give it a go and in the video below, you’ll see I conquered in in just over 3 minutes. Let’s give this one a look!
#3637: Samyang Foods Buldak 3x Spicy HOT Chicken Flavor Ramen – South Korea
Well, well, well. Here we are yet again. Just not hot enough for you, eh? Well, maybe this will do it for you. I mean look – Hochi (the Buldak mascot) is right there, tears streaming, breathing fire… 3x Spicy – so what it 1x spicy? Well, 4,400 SHU (scoville heat units). 3x would be 13,200 SHU – I guess we’ll have to see if that’s spicy. I know it will be. Time to burn!
The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodle Bowls Of All Time 2020 Edition
Bowls, cups, , trays, packs, and boxes. Well, I haven’t done a list of boxed or tray-style instant noodles – maybe that will come soon. But I think that separating these is important. The experience that a cup is meant for is different than a cup or bowl. Cups are more for a snack on the go, packs for when you’ve got a stove, and bowls are, well, for lunch. Although in the finished shots of these you’ll see them plated here, generally people will be looking at the bowl they came in, possibly using the plastic fork they came with, and tossing everything once they’re done. These are my favorites, current as of review #3545. Let’s have a look at The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodle Bowls Of All Time 2020 Edition.
#3512: Samyang Foods Buldak 2x Spicy HOT Chicken Flavor Topokki – South Korea
First off, let me say that I did a mukbang with this one an it’s at the bottom. Definitely the spiciest one I’ve done in quite some time.
#3459: Samyang Foods Buldak Meat Spaghetti – South Korea
Well, Merry Christmas! Hochi has her Santa hat on for this one. Meat spaghetti, huh? Sounds interesting. Christmas is over, but they must have had some leftovers – got these last week and thought hey – maybe some burning would do me good. Let’s give this new variety a try!
Samyang Buldak Meat Spaghetti Fire Noodle Samples!
Look! A new spicy one from Samyang of South Korea! Meat spaghetti with a Christmastime motif. Check it out!
#3436: Samyang Foods Aloha! Bowl Noodle Soup Kimchi Flavour – South Korea
Here’s the last of the Aloha! bowls. I figured I’d just run through them and then tomorrow a last one from the last box from Samyang. Let’s give this kimchi variety a try.
#3434: Samyang Foods Aloha! Bowl Noodle Soup Chicken Flavour – South Korea
Here’s another one of the Aloha bowls that Samyang sent recently. I’ve always been fascinated by the bowl noodle concept – they end up in convenience stores and gas stations a lot of the time and they’re honestly pretty good. Let’s check it out!
#3421: Samyang Foods Aloha! Bowl Noodle Soup Spicy Beef Flavour – South Korea
So this is an export variety from the company that brought you the fire noodle. I’m not exactly sure why the Hawaiian theme, but that’s kind of cool. Let’s give it a try!
#3396: Samyang Foods Cham Ramen Big Bowl – South Korea
I’m going to take a wild stab at something here – that this one contains…. EGGS! I like noodles and eggs quite a bit – I’ve been curious about this one but didn’t know if Samyang was going to send this but I decided to hold of in case. So, I finally got it at 99 Ranch Market! Let’s check it out!
#3339: Samyang Foods Jjajang Buldak Ramen Topokki – South Korea
I thought today would be a fun day to include Miles in on an episode of Instant Noodle Recipe Time (see below). I figured hey – he’ll leave the stove alone… Well, he did which was good and it was nice having a co-host! Job well done, Miles!
#3335: Samyang Foods Bibimmyun – South Korea
It’s summer right now (I wrote and reviewed this on the last day of July) and one thing that happens during the summer months is that South Korean brands put out their cold noodles. This one is a play on bibimbap – instead of rice, it’s noodles. Here’s a little about bibimbap from Wikipedia –
#3323: Samyang Foods Buldak Carbo HOT Chicken Flavor Topokki – South Korea
Two days in a row of varieties with long names! This one does NOT include noodles, however it’s topokki. What’s that? Wikipedia, if you please –
#3296: Samyang Foods Carbo Buldak Topokki – South Korea
Oh wow okay so I’ve been kind of hanging on to this carbonara topokki for a little while. Today seemed like a god day for this one. Is it? Well, let’s find out!
#3271: Samyang Foods Tsuyu Udon Big Bowl – South Korea
I’m sure there are some folks out there figuring this is going to violently spicy. Well, that’s just not the case. Not everything that Samyang Foods makes has an angry little chicken on it! Let’s see what we have inside this big bowl!
#3266: Samyang Foods Hot Chicken Flavor Sausage – South Korea
No, this is NOT noodles. But it’s a tie in that’s for sure. These are little surimi (fish) sausages to enjoy as a snack, flavored like Buldak Bokkeummyun. I’ve seen these all over recently in different ways – some packs call them ‘Kid’s Bong’ and they come in a variety of flavors. These sounded interesting! Couldn’t resist. Let’s take a look!
#3257: Samyang Foods Buldak Hot Chicken Flavor Topokki – South Korea
Okay, alright. It’s another Buldak spicy thing and this time its not topokki and ramen, it’s just topokki. What’s exciting about this is that this is the export version. I’m usually not happy about getting export versions; I want the local versions; te ones that people in their respective countries find at the store. But what’s cool is that this is now available in the United States – and I’ve seen it here recently. This is original Buldak Bokkeummyun flavor – there’s also a Carbo version as well. For those of you who are asking ‘what’s a topokki?!’ here’s a little info from Wikipedia –
#3248: Samyang Foods Tsuyu Soy Sauce Udon – South Korea
So mornings can suck sometimes. Waking up 2 hours late for example. With that, I better get a move on!
The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups Of All Time 2020 Edition
After years of resisting the common practice of naming these lists after the year ahead, I’ve finally decided I’d conform with societal norms and start doing this with this list. So, there won’t be a 2019 edition (although between you and me that’s what this is as it’s coming out in 2019 and not 2020, but whatever). All lists going forward will be this way. My brain will be okay with it eventually, kind of like how I used to lose my mind when people would pronounce sriracha ‘sirracha,’ which IS the correct way to do s. Time heals all chunks of illogic I suppose. But anyways, these are my favorite and most memorable cup varieties from my reviews up to number 3,180. Let’s take a look at The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups Of All Time 2020 Edition.
#3221: Samyang Foods Buldak Topokki Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen – South Korea
Spicy stuff! So this one is the latest of the standard pillow pack varieties of the ‘fire noodle’ series. For those of you who don’t know what topokki is, here’s a little something from Wikipedia –
The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodle Bowls Of All Time 2019 Edition
Every year I come out with new lists in many categories. The more reviews I do, the more I figure the lists will change less and less. It amazes me though how much they do change and how much the industry evolves and changes. Here’s the latest list of bowls, current as on review #3180. All products are prepared according to labeling on the package, and scores are given before any external garnish is added. Let’s check out the Top Ten Instant Noodle Bowls for 2019!
#3177: Maison De Coree x Samyang Ramen Gout Coco Poulet – France
Well here we are. The last of the French Samyang stuff. I’ve really found these to be really quite good and hope to see more from them at some time soon – maybe packs? Anyways, this is a coconut chicken flavored variety. Let’s dig in!
#3170: Maison De Coree x Samyang Ramen Gout Carbonara – France
Here’s yet another one from France~ I think many are surprised that France would want instant noodles but I mean, they do enjoy food in France, if you didn’t know. Let’s give this new Carbonara variety a peek and see if it’s tasty!
#3153: Maison De Coree x Samyang Ramen Gout BBQ Coreen – France
Here’s another interesting one from South Korea for a French company. Pretty neat I must say. Korean BBQ is one of my absolutely favorite things. Marinated meats cooked at your table and served with a myriad of banchan; an array of small plates with different pickled and otherwise modified vegetables and tofu. Let’s give this a close look.
#3145: Maison De Coree x Samyang Foods Ramen Gout Poulet Feu – France
I was looking on Facebook and a friend from Samyang Foods posted something about developing a range specifically for France. Having never reviewed anything for the French marketplace, I thought this would be really great to try. Well, they arrived recently and so today we start with this interesting variety. What is it? Well, most likely it’s the standard buldak bokkeummyun fire noodle in different clothes. But we’ll find out. Let’s have a look!
#3140: Samyang Foods Buldak Ramen Topokki – South Korea
Alright. So you know about the Buldak Bokkeummyun Topokki variety – well, this one comes with actual topokki as well. It’s a big bag, too! Let’s tear into this and see what we have here!
